FAQs

1. Can I eat it?

I never thought I’d have to answer this question about soaps, but our decadent soaps look so good you could eat them. PLEASE do not ever use our skincare for anything but your skin. Not for human consumption.

2. Can I pick up my soaps?

We offer free pickup and free local delivery around the Jacksonville, NC area. Please contact us via Woodlandworkllc@gmail.com or reach out to our social media to arrange pick up and local delivery appointments. We are also able to deliver on base at Camp Lejeune and New River.

3. Why do you use lye?

Lye is needed for the chemical process that soap goes through, but it's not present in the final product. Some soapmakers use a different method of soapmaking that is called “Melt and Pour “ where they incorporate an already saponified base. Woodland Works LLC uses “Cold Process” method where we have more control over our oil recipes and lye content. Cold process soap contains oils and fats from plants and it has a much higher fat content than other soaps, which means that it's also more moisturizing.

4. Do your soaps expire?

The pH level of cold process soap doesn't allow mold or bacteria to grow. Because of this, the shelf life of cold process soap is essentially when the bars develop DOS (Dreaded Orange Spots). This could take years. We never have oils go bad because we utilize them and check for expiration weekly. This is part of our commitment to limit waste.

5. Why do you use fragrance oils more than essential oils in your soap?

Fragrance oil soaps are long lasting and consistent, so a soap can sit on a shelf for a year without the scent diminishing. Fragrance oils are also less expensive to use, meaning more cost appropriate for our customers. We have some soaps that are scented with essential oils and some soaps that are unscented completely. We make a wide variety of soaps to accomodate local consumer need.
